Hello all. I created my visual resume using Microsoft Word. I chose Microsoft Word because I wanted to create a resume that was unique and my own. The two fonts that I used on my resume I downloaded from www.dafonts.com (if you are looking for new fonts I highly recommend this website because there were thousands available). I am happy with the content on my virtual resume, but I would like to add some more color and/or decrease the amount of white space. Thoughts?

  1. Keep the white space! It looks fabulous.
I also think the amount of color you're using is perfect. Don't add more! :)

  2. I like that you found a logo for your experience section. I also like the use of neutral color. This clearly communicates information that a resume should provide in a professional manner but in a visually pleasing format. Great job! If I were to suggest anything, it might be to add more contrast in the text at the bottom where you have your headings for Skills & Abilities. It is a little light and I would align those headings on the left. They are getting a little lost. I would also do change the color for your dates at the top and maybe add a little more space between your first education line and your name. Those two lines are competing for attention. Again, great job!!

  3. It looks really really nice and simple. It's great you managed to get a look like that out of Word. The orange looks quite nice against the muted color of the paper. I think the only thing I'd change is the bevel style on the arrow. It doesn't quite mesh with the subtle natural feel of the rest of the page. You could reduce the bevel to a level that's barely noticeable or instead put in a drop shadow with a low transparency (I can be a little drop shadow happy though...). It would be subtle enough to break the arrow out from the page without screaming "here's a drop shadow!" Though honestly, the arrow is orange enough, it might not need anything to make it pop. It's definitely the first thing I look at when I see your page.

  4. I agree that this is a nice looking resume. I like your decision to divide the paper in thirds and to split the lower third into 2 columns. I think it adds visual interest. The experience section really sticks out to me. You made great choices with neutral colors to contrast the brighter colors of some of the icons.
