Amanda Leech Poster Draft

I admittedly have not had a ton of time to work on this yet this week, so I am open to lots of feedback! Because my job is to get people involved with alumni chapters, I thought I could make a poster instructing graduating seniors on how to stay connected once they graduate. I think I need to work on the layout, and I'm open to suggestions!

  1. Amanda, What a great topic for a poster! I really like the way you have seamlessly integrated the JMU color scheme. Good repetition. You also have great white space. I would suggest fixing the horizon line on the top photo. Also, it might be nice to have actual numbers instead of the words for the numbers to really draw your eye through the steps. Maybe you could have arrows pointing down from the purple and have the numbers in the arrows? My only other suggestion would be to create some short links with Bitly of Goo.gl to add or QR codes to the direct viewers to the web addresses where they can find more information. Great job!

  3. Amanda, I think you have a strong draft for this assignment! The photo is inviting and exudes excitement; it would definitely prompt memories of happy college times. I like the diagonals in the photo; I think the right-tilted floor in the photo leads the viewer's eye down to the middle region of the poster.

I agree with Ms. Creasy that you could add a QR code. You at least need some sort of contact information to direct the viewer towards reconnecting with JMU alums. You could recolor a plain B&W QR to match the purple or gold, and it would be a useful touch that suits your fun vibe.

I can't exactly say what is missing to make this piece feel more cohesive, but I think it is almost "there." Maybe arrows would help the middle piece to flow to the bottom, or perhaps a background color would unify it. I think a gold background would bring the top third, middle third, and bottom third together, and it might make the text that is already that same gold color seem more visually interesting.

Nice job, as usual. I hope this helps =)
