I would maybe say to change what your home page is and move that information to a new tab like "current unit" and have your home page with info about you, your contact information, your schedule and such. Or you could even keep what is there but add some more personal information too!
About the color scheme: If you wanted to keep consistent with your logo and brochure, you could use those colors. I think they look good together and it will help create your "brand".
I am struggling with a picture too. I know many school systems do not allow you to post pictures of students. I am about to post my website so you'll see I chose a picture with just the back of their heads shown... Maybe that's a good compromise? Or it looks like you chose history so maybe like historical pictures? hahah idk this is tough.
