Brochure/Booklet

This is just what I have so far for a booklet-like brochure (actually, not sure if you would really call it a brochure, technically.)  So, you have to imagine that the two pages I have shown here are stapled at the top.  The first image would be the cover of the "booklet," and the second image would be the back of that page, when the first food tab is flipped up.  Sorry, this seems really hard to explain, and it might not make much sense without actually seeing what I'm envisioning.  I envision having a tab that you can flip up, to go to each section of the booklet (I clearly only have one tab done so far).  (Deli, wine, food, gasoline)  And I kind of just made up the menu so it's just a placeholder for whatever the real menu will be.  I'd love to hear any and all feedback!

  1. ...and I just realized I have the word "traditional" listed twice in the word picture. Oops.

  2. I really like the design of the front page. The use of the wood background throughout the page goes very well with the blue color. I also thought it was creative how you incorporated the silhouetted objects at the bottom to create tabs. For the second page the picture is a nice way to add a title without using text. The use of the orange color for your headers is another great way of using repetition.

I guess my only suggestion would be for the text on the second page, which I know you commented about just kind of making up the menu. It seemed like a lot of text for each day, so maybe if you simplify this that would be a nice revision.

  3. Raleigh,

Your booklet concept makes sense and is a great idea - simple and appropriate to provide info about each service offered.

Your menu page is great - simple use of color that is in keeping with the food icon color - I would just mention that if you're using a cool font from one of the sites you listed, be sure to purchase it for commercial use if you actually decide to have these printed for your family's company.

Also - the wood you use as a background texture is great, but very dark and makes words in the logo hard to read. May consider lightening it up a bit.

Nice work of creating a file that has bleeds accounted for - looks good overall

  5. I love the tabbing idea that you included in this brochure/booklet. The silheutes act as a perfect visual guide to where the viewer can decide what information they would like to see/find out, whether it is about the deli or the wine, etc. You do a good job of using white space and use of columns for your deli special page, and the font makes it more appealing and fun to look at. My only suggestion for you right now goes along with what Cat said- the font for your logo is hard to read against the dark wood background. I love the wood background so I would not get rid of it, either make it a bit lighter so black can be read easier against it or change the font color for your logo for this specific advertising tool. Other than that I think you have a great start here.
