Digital Picture Books for Smart-Dummies!!

I'm not sure if this is your first time making a picture book, but it is mine!! I am so excited because I will now be able to put together all that I have learned and created in this class. As I was looking up "picture books" on Google, I found this really cool tutorial for digital picture-book-making so take a look and see if this could benefit you in the future..It just amazes me how EVERYTHING is going digital! http://craftingdigitalpicturebooks.yolasite.com/examples.php

This is a really neat way to publish your picture book on-line or save it as a DVD.

  1. Thanks, Jess. This is a cool site! I really like that it has tutorials for both Keynote and PowerPoint. Some of the individuals narrating the tutorials clearly favor Keynote to PowerPoint (and even hint that Mac is better than PC), but if you can get over those biases, there is a lot of good information there. However, if you have trouble with accents, some of the tutorials may be difficult for you to understand. Also, much of the info is very basic.

The site focuses more on creating illustrations for fictional tales than on using photographs to convey information about a real life client. However, while the look and feel of our picture books will be somewhat different than these examples, the method is much the same. We will be using less text, more photos, and our topic will be non-fictional. But just like the examples on this site, we would want to create a flow, a visual story that will provide a highly engaging experience for the reader/viewer. I had never thought of using PowerPoint to create something with that kind of entertaining quality until I saw this site!

  2. Thanks Jess for posting this website. It was entertaining looking through the different examples. I agree with Aaron that the tutorials were helpful. I also think it is amazing the TONS of things you can do with PowerPoint!! Who would have thought that one simple software could be so versatile?

  3. Just to clarify, some of the assumptions in my first post about the picture book assignment were not accurate. The assignment details were provided shortly after I posted, and the picture book requirements were slight different than what I expected. The site Jessica posted has even more relevance now. I would encourage anyone doing a picture book of this kind to check it out if they have not already done so.

Sorry for any confusion my first post may have caused. We all know what happens when you assume... ☺
