Activity 5

For this graphic, I tried to keep the colors minimum and consistent, while also breaking up the facts. I was torn about using the red because I couldn't tell if it was hard to read on the black. I also didn't include all the facts because I felt that they were redundant and I didn't want their to be too much text. I first tried to put the "smoking kills" on the cigarette but it wasn't as noticeable so I moved it below. Let me know what you think!

  1. Nice work Kelsey. The red is more difficult to read than the white but that doesn't mean it's not difficult in general. It really just seems to make the middle statement in white the most important one because it's in the middle and it's white. The "smoking Kills" footer is good and I think the red in this one is just fine.

  2. I agree with Eric--the red text (full sentences) is a little difficult to read, but it looks good in the "Smoking Kills" footer. Also, the white text in the middle does stand out because the other two are red, implying that the one white statement could be more important. I really like the image that you chose, and that it is not the center focus on the "ad" you created. I think the ad is very balanced, and the color scheme for this add is very appropriate. Great work!

  3. Kelsey, unlike Eric and Janie, I do not think the red is difficult to read. In fact, I think it is quite bold and easy to read against the black background. I think your image choice is effective, but wonder whether there is another image that could more clearly convey the idea that smoking kills? The picture doesn't seem to match the message contained in the words.
