Here is my first attempt at a logo for the Dual Master's degree in Spanish Language and Culture (SLC). Students will receive a Master's Degree in Education from James Madison University and the University of Salamanca. The seal in this draft is the University of Salamanca's seal.
I love the use of the seal and the border around the letters. It works really well.
ReplyDeleteIf the two universities are on equal rankings (both giving masters degrees) then you should probably include the Salamanca name as well... though I really like the use of the seal.
Another thing you might try is to add an '&' between the SL and C. I like what you did by making the L smaller than the S and C, I totally get it with your description. But if I didn't have a description, I might just think the L was mistakenly smaller. So maybe the addition of an '&' or '+' or '.' will help that? Just some ideas.
I really like using the seal from Salamanca. I also like using JMU colors for SLC but without the description, I do not know what the SLC stands for. Perhaps the & that Becca suggested would help. I also feel like the gold letters might stand out more if you reverse the purple and gold. I agree with Becca on many points and one is that adding the Salamanca name would be helpful too. Perhaps it could go under or above the James Madison University line.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the comment above. The use of the letters against the seal is nice, but since it is a dual degree I am not sure using the seal from one school or the other is the best choice. As Becca said, if the schools are equal, using one's seal and the other's name is a good compromise but reminds me more of an exchange program. Obviously time is an issue, but for longer term it would be great to have an original seal or symbol. As this stands, I do like the letters against the seal, but agree again that having the L be the same size. Nice work.
