Here's my first attempt at a logo for a log cabin business. I'm attempting to represent the half-dovetail notch in the logo (not very successfully). I'll be able to use a Wacom tablet later this week, so I'm hoping to refine the illustration. If not, I might have to go back to the drawing board.
Here's a link to photos that show the half-dovetail notch: http://logdovetailjig.com/galleryphp/
Wow, that's really nice! Even if it doesn't convey the dovetail strongly it's still an innovative look. Just with a little shoutout to those who are in the know.
ReplyDeleteI did not know what a half-dovetail was, but I see what you're going for with that link! That's an awesome idea. What usually helps me with form is to pull a photograph (of the half-dovetail notch) into your drawing and try to form the letters to fit the image. Then remove the image and maybe you'll have a truer representation?
ReplyDeleteOther than that, I like your top "chicken hollow" font, but am unsure why you chose a sans serif for 'crafters'. It might work if you pulled the two lines closer, but essentially the two different 'C' shapes are uncomfortable to my eye.
I really like this logo though. It displays professionalism and modernism. Good job!
I agree that there seem to be too many fonts on this page, between the chicken hollow, crafters and CHC that is 3 for a very small amount of letters. I like the idea of adding the dovetail, but not knowing what it was until I saw the link, I still liked the 3D effect.
ReplyDeleteVery nice great idea. I love the effect of the letters on the left however I think it would be beneficial to stick with one font and just change the spacing or boldness of the text rather than use different fonts
