Despite the warned-about learning curve, I decided to use Gimp. I have used photo-editing software before, but it was been rare and usually a program I was assigned to use. The learning-curve was huge with Gimp! And I still have a lot to learn. There were things I wanted to do with the poster that I just couldn’t figure out how to do. I thought I was following the tutorials or manual instructions, but I just couldn’t get those things to work. There were things I could do once, but it wouldn’t do again. I know…user error! But I am not giving up! I will continue to use Gimp because: 1) It is free software. 2) I think it has tremendous potential for me. 3) My office will soon be providing me with a Mac, and Gimp also works on Macs.
Picture is my own. COE and JMU logos from the brochure provided.
